Visa Exemptions
Visa Exemption for Holders of Diplomatic and Official or Service Passports
Under reciprocal agreements between countries, individuals holding diplomatic, official, or service passports from the following countries are not required to obtain a visa to enter, stay in, exit, or transit through Nepal:
- Thailand: Exempt for up to 90 days.
- Russian Federation: Exempt for up to 90 days.
- People’s Republic of China: Exempt for up to 30 days.
- Federal Republic of Brazil: Exempt for up to 90 days.
After the specified exemption period, these individuals will be subject to visa regulations.
Additionally, diplomats and officials with diplomatic or official/service passports along with their dependents holding similar passports, from following countries are exempt from visa requirements for the duration of the diplomat’s tenure in Nepal:
- Russian Federation
- People’s Republic of China
- Federal Republic of Brazil
Holders of diplomatic and official passports are required to enter through the following immigration checkpoints:
- Tribhuvan International Airport, Kathmandu
- Kakarbhitta, Jhapa
- Birgunj, Parsa
- Belhia, Bhairahawa
- Nepalgunj, Bake
- Mohana, Kailali
- Gaddachwoki, Mahendranagar
- Kodari, Sindhupalchwok
- Rashuwagadi, Rashuwa
Entry and Exit Points in Nepal
The following locations are designated as official entry and exit points for foreign travelers entering or leaving Nepal. Immigration offices at these points operate 24 hours a day. Entering or exiting Nepal through any other location is considered a violation of the Immigration Act and Regulations.
- Immigration Office, Tribhuvan International Airport, Kathmandu
- Immigration Office, Kakarvitta, Jhapa (Eastern Nepal)
- Immigration Office, Birgunj, Parsa (Central Nepal)
- Immigration Office, Kodari, Sindhupalchowk (Northern Border)
- Immigration Office, Belahia, Bhairahawa (Rupandehi, Western Nepal)
- Immigration Office, Jamunaha, Nepalgunj (Banke, Mid-Western Nepal)
- Immigration Office, Mohana, Dhangadhi (Kailali, Far Western Nepal)
- Immigration Office, Gaddachauki, Mahendranagar (Kanchanpur, Far Western Nepal)
- Immigration Office, Rashuwagadi, Rashuwa (Northern Border)
- Immigration Office, Pokhara (Note: Not an entry point)
