As the Honorary Consul of Nepal in the State of Ohio, United States of America, I feel deeply honored to occupy a position that bridges the interests of the Nepali community and the United States. My journey as a physician, educator, and community leader is based on a lifelong commitment to public service, health equity, and cultural advocacy. Over the past two decades, I have worked as a primary care physician and Regional Medical Director at Hopewell Health Centers in Southern Ohio while holding academic positions at Ohio State University. My dedication to shaping the next generation of healthcare professionals remains unwavering, instilling reassurance and confidence in the continuity of our service. As Honorary Consul, I am devoted to upholding the interests of the Nepali community and fostering positive relations between Nepal and the United States, ensuring a secure and promising future for all.
My contributions extend beyond medicine; I have been privileged to lead and support various community-driven initiatives. During the challenging COVID-19 pandemic, I collaborated with fellow Nepali-speaking leaders to ensure accurate health information reached immigrant communities. Our collective efforts, which have garnered national recognition from the Office of U.S. Senator Sherrod Brown and the City Council of Reynoldsburg, Ohio, have instilled a sense of pride and reassurance in our work. This acknowledgment from national authorities reaffirms the positive impact we can achieve when we come together and serves as a testament to the strength and resilience of our community.
My advocacy work encompasses a wide variety of activities, from speaking at city council meetings to celebrating Nepali festivals, promoting vaccine access in Nepal, and assisting in the establishment of the Nepal Caucus in the U.S. Congress. Throughout these efforts, I have consistently upheld the belief in the transformative power of collaboration, cultural pride, and civic engagement. As the President of the National Innovation Center Nepal’s USA Chapter and a former advisor to the Non-Resident Nepali Association (NRNA), I remain dedicated to fostering innovation, engaging with the diaspora, and creating strategic partnerships between Nepal and the United States. This commitment is driven by a singular purpose: to uplift and empower communities in both the U.S. and Nepal, building bridges of opportunity, understanding, and progress for future generations. I believe nurturing strong U.S.-Nepal relations can inspire hope and optimism for a brighter future.
